1. Installation, starting the Application:


	1.1 Installation
			   
	    - Follow the instructions after starting 'Setup'
	      of disc 1.
	 	
	1.2 Starting the Application
		   
	    - Start the application as usual from the directory
	      'Start/Programs/Sunorb or from the directory you
	      installed in, by using the Windows-Taskbar, or
	      doubleclick the 'SunOrb'-Symbol in the Windows-
	      Explorer.	



2. Scope of the Application:

	    - Create Sun Orbit Diagrams for plane surfaces at
	      any location with free adjustable inclination and
	      orientation.

	    - Read off all sunpositions from the shown diagram
	      after selecting a special day and time.
	     
            - Work on the Sun Orbit Diagrams for the printout.
             
	    - Printout the complete Diagram including all local
	      data and surface-parameter.

	    - Choose location from the Location Database with a
	      list of locations and their belonging local data
	      with the possibility to add and edit new datasets.

	    - Administer the created Sun Orbit Diagrams with the
	      assistance of the Diagram-Manager.



3. Directions for Use:

	3.1 Data Input 
			
	3.1.1 Local Data
			
	    - Feed the data of longitude, latitude as well as
	      the time lag directly into the edit-fields of the
	      main window.

	    - The longitude and latitude information has to be
	      set in degrees. (e.g.: 10 degrees 15 minutes has
	      to be set as 10.25 degrees).

	    - The time lag information refers to the location
	      and the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and has to be
	      set in hours.
	!!    Take notice of the reference of the eastern
	      longitude	you have set.
	      A positive eastern longitude mostly means that the
	      time lag is positiv, a negative easterns longitude
	      results in a negative time lag.
 
	    - A non realistic setting of the time lag could be 
	      due to a faulty diagram plotting.
	      Using the '!'-Button next to the time lag edit-
	      field sets the time lag 'logically'. This setting
	      usualy doesn't equal to the real time lag of the
	      country that the location data was set for.
			
	    - Doubleclicking the 'time' on the Windows-Taskbar
	      gives you the reference settings for the time lag
	      to be chosen. 
	      The shown time lag (GMT) equals the required time
	      lag.

			 	     
	3.1.2 Surface-Parameter

            - The inclination and the orientation can be adjusted
	      freely. Insert the parameter into the Edit-fields
	      or use the scrollbars to adjust.



	3.2 Screen Plotting of the Sun Orbit Diagram

	3.2.1 New Calculation 
		        
	    - Any change within the local data (3.1.1) or the
	      surface-parameter (3.1.2) effects a change in the
	      Sun Orbit Diagram. To update these changings to
	      the screen plotting, a new calculation has to be
	      made.
	      Clicking the 'Start'-Button starts the calculation.

	    - A new calculation without having changed the local
	      data or surface-parameter just resets the time- and
 	      date positions in the diagram.
			

	3.2.2 Old Plotting
                    
	    - Use 'Old plotting' to restore a loaded diagram
	      (*.ssd-File) (3.7.2).

	    - If a diagram was closed by mistake it can be
	      restored by using 'Old plotting'.
			      


	3.3 Read off Sunpositions
		
	3.3.1 Special Day
		 
	    - Select a special day using the scrollbar in the 
	      area 'Specific data of selected day'. The daylength,
	      sunrises and sunsets will be shown directly.
		
	    - Using the button above (Sun ON) the selected day
	      will be shown in the plotting (red). 
		      
	    - After calculation the plotting always shows the
	      current sunposition ('Sun ON', current time,
	      current date). 

	
	3.3.2 Choose time

	    - Use the scrollbar in the area 'specific data at
	      chosen time' to select the time at the special day.
	      The sun-elevation and the sun-azimuth will be shown 
	      directly.
		
	      (Hint:  The special day will not be printed.)
			  

 			
   	3.4 Work on for Print
	
	    - Time- and date position are given after every
	      'new calculation' (3.2.1).		
	
	    - The time-positions can be changed by using the
 	      time-change-button 
	      (Summersolstice <--> Wintersolstice).
		
	    - You can reset the time- and date positions by using
	      the reset-button.

	    - Using 'drag and drog' the positions can be set
	      precisely.

	    - Items dropped in the trash can won't be printed.



   	3.5 Printout of Sun Orbit Diagrams  

	3.5.1 Printer Setup
			
	    - Choose menu-item 'printer setup' from the diagram-
	      menu in the diagram-window to setup the printer as
 	      usual.
		
	3.5.2 Printout
		
	    - Choose 'print' from the diagram-menu in the diagram-
	      window after the printer is set (3.5.1) or use the 
	      'Print'-button on the diagram-window.
			


	3.6 Use of the Location Database

	3.6.1 Selection from Location Database

	    - Clicking the 'world'-button in the main-window opens
	      the location database.
	      Select a location by doubleclicking in the location-
	      list or choose a location from the list and confirm.

 			
		
	3.6.2 Add Location to Database
   
	    - The 'Editor'-page allows you to extend the location
 	      database.
			
	    - Click the '+'-button to enable the edit-fields.
	      Using 'Get data'-button the data edited in the main
	      window will be handed over. 
	      Post the new dataset using the 'post'-button on the 
	      editor-page.

	
	3.6.3 Edit Location Database
	
	    - The existing datasets in the beginning are fixed and
 	      not free to edit or delete.
	      You can only edit or delete datasets, that are added
 	      later. 		



	3.7 Diagram-Manager

	3.7.1 Save Diagrams
		
	    - Click on the 'Disk'-button or choose 'save' from the
 	      diagram-menu in the diagram-window to open the
	      Diagram-Manager.
  
            - Choose the drive and folder you want to save in and
 	      click the 'save'-button.
	
	    - The Sun Orbit Diagrams will be saved as type
	      '*.ssd'.

	3.7.2 Open Diagrams

	    - Click on the 'folder'-button or choose 'open' from
	      the 'file'-menu in the main-window to open the
	      Diagram-Manager
	
	    - Choose file to load ('*.ssd'-file) and click the
	      'open file'-button.



   	3.8 Exit Application
		
	   - To close the application choose 'exit' of the 'file'-
	     menu in the main-window or click the 'close'-button.
